IF YOU CONDUCT BUSINESS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, IT COULD BE A CRIMINAL ACT TO GIVE A GIFT OR ANYTHING OF VALUE TO A DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE. IT COULD BE A CRIMINAL ACT FOR A DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE TO ACCEPT A GIFT FROM A PERSON OR ENTITY CONDUCTING BUSINESS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE. Persons or entities conducting or seeking to conduct business with, or interested in matters before, the Department of Commerce or its operating divisions should familiarize themselves with the statutory prohibitions (Revised Code Chapter 102) against giving gifts or engaging in other actions that may be prohibited by the Ethics Laws in Ohio. All Department employees are prohibited from soliciting or accepting any gifts or gratuities-regardless of value—from persons or entities that have, or seek to have, interaction with the Department of Commerce’s operating divisions.
