The Division of State Fire Marshal is pleased to announce the 2022 Fire Officer Symposium will return to an in-person delivery February 5th and 6th at the State Fire Marshal’s Office. This 2-day course was designed by the Ohio Fire Academy for the appointed fire officer. An overview of the Division of State Fire Marshal's roles & responsibilities and how the SFM can assist you in your position will be presented. Includes, but is not limited to fire and EMS updates; State Fire Marshal's Office overview; fire investigation requirements; fire incident reporting; residential fireworks and Ohio’s fire service; State, Federal, and State Fire Marshal Grant Programs. In addition, presentations will be made from the Ohio Bureau of Worker's Compensation, Ohio Division of Forestry, Ohio Fire Chief’s Association, and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

There is no cost to attend this program. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided on both days. No cost dorm rooms are available through the Ohio Fire Academy on a limited basis due to Covid protocols. Additional hotels are available at cost near the State Fire Marshal’s campus in nearby Reynoldsburg. Please see included listing of presentations for more details.
